I ripped up the two paintings and collage them onto each other to see how they contrast between each other, the ripped effects add a creative edge to the piece plus the layers are an idea I may stick with. As throughout the course of my experimentation I have used layers upon layers to create different diverse outcomes.
My Final Major Project theme is Wedding Traditions, Rituals and Superstitions - I chose this theme out of interest and I am soon to be taking a university course in Events Management however I do not want to be planning weddings. The theme of weddings came up as in July I will be a bridesmaid for my Aunt and I thought this would tie in nicely into all events that is happening in my life at the moment. Experimenting
I found an image on Google images of a wedding audience and decided to pick out people that were looking in a similar direction to the audience in the painting. I cut them out and stuck them onto the original painting to make the painting more fun and in a style that the Chapman Brothers would.
I also defaced the painting in the way the Chapman Brothers would, to expand my development and experimentation further.
I liked the way these results turned out, however I do not think this would be something I use in my final piece.

Experimenting
Arnolfini and African Wedding - I got an image of a African bride and groom placed them onto acetate, photocopied the acetated piece on top of the Arnolfini portrait to create a layering effect. I also did this in black and white to see how the colours would contrast. I enlarged the top half of the bride as that is where the images contrasted the most between the two brides. However the groom did not turn out very well as each image was really dark to layer on top of each each.
Arnolfini Portrait and Chinese Wedding - I did the same again to some Chinese images I had found. I layered the acetate onto the portrait and photocopied to see what effect this would create. Again the bride's top half work really well, but the groom side was really dark in the black and white version.
Arnolfini Portrait and 21st Century Wedding - I did the same for a third time to experiment however this time the bride's top half made a really creative effect like the image is moving back in time. I really like to work with this image to develop further as I like the way this effect has been created.
